Last night, I began a pinterest page and several boards to collect ideas for design components. Design components might include:
bath (vanity, sink, faucet, tub, shower, tile, misc PLUS cork flooring)
great room (lights)
laundry/mud room (sink, storage, flooring)
patio (lights, tile)
exterior elementsUnfortunately, all that exercise taught me is that I have very expensive tastes, and for custom elements. Still, the struggle continues.
I like the idea of cork flooring, though it's expensive. Was thinking of using that in the bathroom, since it's a fairly small area. The upsides are that it's very soft, environmentally friendly, and durable; the downside is that it requires a lot of maintenance. I'd thought laminate flooring was much cheaper than hardwood, but if that's not the case, might go with red oak. There's also the idea of selecting flooring on the basis of pet-friendliness.
